Did you know?
Kleinwalsertal is the last stop on the Walser hiking trail – and for good reason. Even the old Walser people knew where it was most beautiful! Their culture and history are still alive today and are preserved with a lot of heart. One person who is particularly committed to this is chronicler Stefan Heim. On the tour "On the trail of the Walsers", he tells exciting stories about the life and traditions of the Walser people.
Walser culture also has a lot to offer musically: In summer, brass music concerts are held every week, creating a real Alpine atmosphere. If you want to delve even deeper into the traditions, you can find the "Originales & Originelles" cultural guide at the tourist office – full of insider knowledge about Walser history, customs and life in the valley.
A living tradition that brings generations together. The Walser Traditional Costume is a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site
A piece of living history, traditional craftsmanship, and valuable knowledge passed down through generations: The craftsmanship and knowledge surrounding Walser Valley traditional costumes were added to Austria’s National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2026. This is a special recognition of our living tradition and of all those who preserve and pass it on with great love.
